About TNC Community->
Client Outcomes
TNC has developed a client outcome management plan, which focuses on client community integration. With the previously stated client conditions, one is led to the conclusion that community integration is difficult, at best. Yet, the TNC Board of Directors, parents, guardians, management and staff realize the value of such activities, events, outings, and inclusion in enhancing the quality of life for each client. Community integration requires additional staffing, coordination, management of funds, and transportation. Community integration requires creativity, time patience, and an effort in collecting and analyzing outcomes.
The following are examples of TNC's community integration efforts:
- One of the eight TNC Board of Directors is a TNC client. This client has all the rights and responsibilities as any other board member.
- Four TNC clients participate in a sheltered workship experience.
- Four TNC clients perform community volunteer activities
- All TNC clients participate in agency events, including
- Trips to the Zoo
- Lyric Opera
- Holiday Parties
- Picnics
- Movies
- Dining in Restaurants
- TNC clients are regularly involved in activities/events that are special to them, such as rodeos, state fairs, car shows, make-up demonstrations, and special computer layout programming.
- TNC clients participate in regular daily activities, like shopping, haircuts, dining, etc.
- Between 13 and 16 clients attend church services every Sunday.
- TNC is in the process of developing two therapeutic gardening projects which will utilize the expertise and assistance of local volunteer groups such as churches, senior citizens, Boys and Girl Scouts, and local gardening clubs.
- Both group and individual volunteers have visited with clients in their TNC homes (reading with clients, performing music and interacting in other ways).
- TNC has provided clients with training from outside guest presenters in client rights, health and safety, and People First language.
